Sander van Wettum, fotograaf en Stipendium Schiedams Water laureaat, is een crowdfundingcampagne op Voordekunst.nl begonnen om de productiekosten voor zijn eerste fotoboek Hibernation te kunnen financieren!
“Hibernation biedt een onverwachtse kijk op de badplaatsen waar we zo massaal naar verlangen in de zomer, door deze te fotograferen op het moment dat ze niet worden gebruikt waar ze voor zijn gemaakt. Buiten het toeristenseizoen, als het achtergronddecor de hoofdrolspeler wordt, valt het pas op hoe dubbelzinnig en kunstmatig deze stedelijke ruimtes eigenlijk zijn. Door de foto’s uit diverse reizen te combineren en daarbij referenties naar exacte locaties en tijdsmomenten te vermijden, ontstaat er in de foto’s de suggestie dat je weer naar één plek kijkt. Het resultaat is een fotoserie die balanceert tussen documentair en fictie.”
